The rock

Sandstone. 1000mm (not really cubed).

I did a little design job for my friend Andrew, and in exchange he took me to a quarry and said I could pick anything I liked. Which, to be honest, in a quarry didn’t provide many options. So I chose some sandstone, which I was told could be cut and delivered to me. I asked for a cube.

A week or so later, something that wasn’t really a cube turned up on the back of a large truck. The truck driver asked where I wanted him to drop the heaviest thing I’ve ever had delivered, and I chose a spot I hoped I’d never regret. Then I went and bought a little air chisel and a giant angle grinder and tried to figure out how carving works.
